Kings Fall to Wild Things
July 9, 2003 - Frontier League (FL)
Kalamazoo Kings News Release
Back into action today, Wednesday July 9, 2003, the Kings welcomed the Washington Wild Things to Kalamazoo. Matt Sheets (1-4) started for the Kings, and Nick Aiello (3-1) took to the hill for the Wild Things. The story of the game was Washington's high-powered offense knocking out big home runs in the top of the second and again in the fifth. Washington starter Nick Aiello silenced the Kings offense allowing one run on five hits over six innings, and Clayton Ewen (1-2) closed it up for the Wild Things pitching 3 scoreless innings in relief.
The Kalamazoo Kings only run of the ballgame off Washington came in the fifth when Phil Archer hit a solo shot to deep left. Adding offense for the Kings was Carter and Morris with two hits each, yet the Kings failed all game to move base runners around the basepaths.
These two teams have two games left in the best of three series at Homer Stryker Field Tomorrow July 10, and Friday July 11.
