Washington Wild Things News Release

Washington, Pa.- The Washington Wild Things (4-9), presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, beat the River City Rascals (9-5) 4-3 after designated hitter Jacob Dempsey drove in Michael Parker for the winning run in the bottom of the tenth inning. The victory came in front of a sellout crowd at CONSOL Energy Park.

Dempsey, who tripled and scored the Wild Things' first run in the second inning, hit a sacrifice fly to left field to bring in Parker. Parker had singled to lead off the inning earlier.

The sacrifice fly broke a 3-3 tie that had stretched from the top of the seventh. The Wild Things took the early 3-0 lead, with Dempsey's run in the second and runs for Phil Laurent and Kris Rochelle in the fourth inning.

River City evened the score in the seventh inning as relief pitchers Justin Edwards and Matt Maradeo gave up three runs on two hits, two walks and a hit batter.

Wild Things starting pitcher Craig Snipp looked sharp before leaving the game with an injury in the fifth inning. In 4.2 innings pitched, he allowed two hits and no runs.

Reliever Josh Eachues got the win for the Wild Things after pitching 3.1 innings with one hit and no runs. The losing pitcher was Tony Marsala for the Rascals.

Washington and River City meet again Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are available at the CONSOL Energy Park box office and fans can listen on WJPA 95.3 FM.
