Washington, PA - The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, released the 2007 season schedule Monday afternoon.

"There have been some changes in the league this year," said Ross Vecchio, general manager of the Wild Things. "Twelve teams will compete in three divisions during 2007, which should make for some interesting baseball."

Minor league baseball returns to Butler County in 2007 when Slippery Rock University's Jack Critchfield Park will be home to an expansion team. Students at the University will get hands-on experience in the start up and running of the team.

The League also recently announced the Miners, who will call Southern Illinois home. The team, based in Marion, is owned by Southern Illinois Baseball.

Washington joins Florence (KY), Chillicothe (OH) and Slippery Rock (PA) in the East Division. The teams within each division face off 16 times during the season.

The Central Division is comprised of Kalamazoo (MI), Rockford (IL), Traverse City (MI), and Windy City (IL). The West Division includes Evansville (IN), Gateway (IL), River City (MO), and Southern Illinois (IL).

The winner of each of the three divisions will advance to post season play, along with a Wild Card team, the team with the next best league record.

"We're pleased with the way our scheduled lays out this year," said Vecchio. "Our games are spread out evenly throughout the season." The Wild Things play a total of 96 regular season games, 50 of which will be played at Falconi Field.

The Wild Things open the season at home on May 23rd when Slippery Rock travels down I-79 for the first two regular season contests.

Season ticket packages are available at the box office or at the Clubhouse, located in the Washington Crown Center. For information, phone 724-250-9555.
