
Wild Things Hang on to Beat Traverse City 13-9

Washington, PA - The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, beat the Traverse City Beach Bums by a score of 13-9 at CONSOL Energy Park Saturday Night.
The Beach Bums had a two run lead until the bottom of the third inning but trailed the remainder of the game. In two consecutive innings Washington sent nine batters to the plate, and by the fourth inning, the Wild Things had scored 10 runs.
Traverse City chalked up four solo home runs, including two by Mike Victor, throughout the game, and rallied for a comeback in the later innings but fell short.
Washington's Jacob Dempsey went two for three with two RBI; Brett Grandstrand chalked up four RBI, and Phil Laurent had two doubles and three RBI for the evening. Chris Demons had three stolen bases.
Jason Neitz (3-1) got the win for Washington, allowing six (earned) runs on 11 hits, walking two, and striking out two in 6.1 innings of work. Kedrick Martin, Michael Lucas, and Nick Peterson combined for the remaining innings. Peterson allowed not hits and striking out two.
The Wild Things host Midwest Sliders for three games, starting Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Air time on WJPA 95.3 F.M. is 6:25 p.m. Tickets are available at the CONSOL Energy Park box office. A special Father's Day Buffet in the third base luxury suite is available.
