CAMDEN - The Camden Riversharks announced today that they have signed free agent shortstop Jansy Infante, who will be activated for today's game. Infante spent most of the 2009 season with the Newark Bears, but became a free agent on June 15, when he was released by the team.

"We think Jansy can come in and help out our club both offensively and defensively," said Riversharks Manager Joe Ferguson. "We've played against him a few times this year, and we think he has what it takes to succeed in this league," he added.

Infante posted a .214 batting average, and drove in two runs in nine games with the Bears this year. He also played solid defensively at the shortstop position, and accumulated a .333 on base percentage. He is expected to help a Riversharks lineup that has recently struggled to hit with runners in scoring position.

"I'm grateful to be playing with the Riversharks," Infante said. "And it's always exciting when the first game you play with your new team is against your old team. This should be a fun series for me."

The Riversharks are currently in the midst of a three game home stand against the Newark Bears. The two teams will play game two of the series tonight at 5:35 pm, with right handed pitcher Nate Bump (7-2, 2.04) taking the mound for Camden. He will be opposed by righty Edgar Martinez (1-2, 6.16) from Newark.
