The Schaumburg Boomers need extra frames to beat the Washington Wild Things, win 3-2
The Schaumburg Boomers (2-0) outlasted the Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Financial (0-1), at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium 3-2 on Friday after 11 innings.
With the score tied at two in the eleventh inning, Bobby Martin came to the plate and singled, plating Chad Mozingo .
The game was back-and-forth heading into the eleventh, with four lead changes.
Mozingo had two extra-base hits for the Schaumburg Boomers. He singled in the sixth inning and doubled in the third and eleventh innings.
Danny Jimenez baffled the Washington Wild Things, striking out seven batters. Jimenez allowed two earned runs on four hits and no walks over six innings.
Jose Rodriguez improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Schaumburg Boomers. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered one hit.
Anthony Collazo took the loss. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run.
