
Wild Things Defeat River Hawks in First Game of Series

Washington, PA â The Washington Wild Things (13-5), presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, defeated the Rockford River Hawks (8-10) Thursday in front of a wet crowd of 2,842.
Rockford took an early lead scoring one run in the second inning. The run was made by Bobby Matthews after a Jon Ramos single to center field making the score 1-0.
The Wild Things gained two runs in the third inning. Jon Cahill scored off of Jay Coakley's single and Josh Loggins off of Zach Cates' single putting the Wild Things up by one with a score of 2-1.
The Wild Things scored again in the fourth and fifth innings, giving Washington a 4-1 lead over the River Hawks.
In a comeback effort, Rockford scored one run in the eighth inning getting the River Hawks within striking distance with a score of 4-2. However, it was not enough to put them over the top as no other runs were scored. The final score of the game 4-2.
The Rockford River Hawks return to Falconi Field Friday to play the Wild Things in the last game of the series at 7:05. There will be a concert prior to the game and fireworks immediately following for "Party in the Park".
