Kings Fall to Cheetahs

June 12, 2003 - Frontier League (FL)
Kalamazoo Kings News Release

On Thursday June 12th, the Kalamazoo Kings hosted the Cook County Cheetahs in the finale of their two game home stand with the Cheetahs. Although the forecast called for rain, the skies remained overcast and brought in nearly 2300 fans. Matt Sheets got the nod for the Kings this evening, looking to earn his first win of the season but unfortunately was not able to do so. The Cheetas came out big in the first, scoring four runs and never having to look back from that point on. The Kings weren't on the board until the fifth thanks to a RBI from designated hitter Tory Haven. Things really became unraveled for the Kings in the seventh as the Cheetahs built a nine run lead by the end of the seventh. Cook County is 8-0 on the season when leading after six.

Final score: 10-3 Pitching: Cook County - Grant Williams (2-2), Kalamazoo Kings - Matt Sheets (0-2) Records: Kalamazoo Kings - (6-11), Cook County Cheetahs - (9-6). Next Game June 13th vs. Kenosha Mammoths
