Washington, PA - The Washington Wild Things (32-29), presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, beat the Chillicothe Paints by a score of 13-4 at CONSOL Energy Park Monday.
The Wild Things scored early and often with three runs in the first and four runs in the second inning.
With the Wild Things leading by seven runs, Chillicothe bounced back to score four runs in the third inning.
Chris Sidick smacked a solo homer in the fourth inning, tying the franchise record held by Jay Coakley (2002-2004) of 30 career home runs.
Brooks Dunn (1-2) got the win for Washington, allowing four (earned) runs on seven hits, striking out six and walking three in seven innings on the hill. Joe D'Alessandro and Dan Horvath each pitched an inning in relief.
Chris Raber chalked up three runs on four hits and four RBI.
The Wild Things and Paints meet for game three of the series Tuesday when first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Air time on WJPA 95.3 FM is 6:55 p.m. Kids will get a set of wrist bands as part of the Dress Like a Wild Things promotion. Tickets are available at the CONSOL Energy Park Box Office.
