River City Rascals News Release

Evansville, IN - Scott Fogelson was brilliant in the River City Rascals first complete game shutout of the season as he blanked the Evansville Otters 1-0 Monday afternoon at Bosse Field.

Fogelson (3-6) watched Chad Rothford of Gateway walk-off with a single in his first complete game of the season on June 24 at Gateway. This one was a little sweeter.

Only given one run to work with, Fogelson was backed with great defense to begin the game, getting two double plays turned, and then took upon himself later in the ballgame.

Brad Hough provided the only RBI of the game against Billy Phillips who was the tough luck loser. Phillips went the full nine and allowed only three hits, the first of which came in the top of the sixth inning to Luke Barganier. Barganier roped a triple to left-center to set up Hough's RBI double.

Phillips (0-3) would hardly be touched the rest of the way, striking out the side in the seventh and allowing five base runners total in the loss.

The Rascals left-hander finished the game with seven punch-outs, striking out the last two of the game.

Evansville's best chance to score came in the eighth inning. Tom Pennino connected on his second hit of the game with a leadoff double. Pennino though would not touch third. Issac Omura failed on two bunt attempts and later struckout. After an Alex Fonseca walk, Gered Mochizuki swung and missed at a 3-2 pitch and Andrew Sweet threw out Pennino trying to steal at third.

The Rascals (27-35) snapped a five game losing streak and will go for the series win Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. against Evansville (29-33). River City holds a 5-3 season series edge of the Otters. Catch the Rascals on the road all season by tuning into FM 104.5 KSLQ and Josh Anderson.
