Kalamazoo Kings News Release
KALAMAZOO - Writer Neal Rubin and the Kalamazoo Kings have teamed up for a summer long storyline in the Gil Thorp cartoon series. Starting July 19th, the Kings arc will begin featuring real life characters General Manager Joe Rosenhagen and Field Manager Fran Riordan.
The storyline revolves around a high school player who joins the Kings as a way to avoid deportation. Once with the team, the story will focus on the physical and mental grind that comes with the daily rigors of independent baseball; from living with a host family to the social adjustment of playing with men in their mid-twenties to the overnight bus rides around the Frontier League.
