Wild Recalls Smith

HOUSTON - Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled center Nathan Smith from the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Smith, 27 (2/9/82), has played in seven games this season for Minnesota, registering 10 penalty minutes and averaging 8:24 in ice time. Smith ranks sixth on the Aeros' roster in scoring with nine points (3-6=9) to go along with 43 PIM in 21 games. The 6-foot-2, 206-pound native of Edmonton, Alberta, was Vancouver's first-round selection (No. 23 overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. Smith was signed by the Wild as a free agent July 22. Smith wears No. 27 with Minnesota.

The Aeros take the ice Friday to take on division rival Peoria at Toyota Center. Game time is set for 7:35 p.m. against the Rivermen and the first 3,000 fans receive an Aeros fleece blanket.
