Salisbury, MD - The Delmarva Shorebirds lost on Sunday evening as Hagerstown posted a late-inning rally for a 5-4 final score. Delmarva (54-46, 16-15) squandered a 4-2 lead as the Suns scored three unanswered runs down the stretch, including the go-ahead run on a wild pitch in the ninth inning.

Delmarva established an early lead with a strong outing from Mitch Horacek. The left-hander did not allow a base hit until the fifth inning. Horacek struck out eight batters in his start, including four in the opening inning. Drew Dosch and Creede Simpson collected RBI singles to make it 2-0 in the third inning.

Hagerstown tied the game with two unearned runs in the fifth. An error by Jeff Kemp at shortstop helped start the rally. Later, Wilmer Difo ripped a two-run double with two outs to even up the score.

Austin Wynns pushed Delmarva back in front. The Shorebirds' catcher lined a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth to recapture a 4-2 lead. Wynns and Dosch both have 13-game hitting streaks for Delmarva.

The Suns scored three unanswered runs starting in the sixth inning. Spencer Kieboom launched a solo home run to make it 4-3. David Masters roped an RBI double in the eighth inning to tie the game once again. In the ninth, Isaac Ballou scampered home on a wild pitch for the go-ahead run.

Sam Johns earned the win in relief for Hagerstown, while Garrett Cortright was on the hook for the loss having allowed Ballou aboard before the wild pitch by Austin Urban.

The Shorebirds and Suns will conclude their series on Monday evening. Delmarva will go for a series split with left-hander Steven Brault (7-6, 3.32) against Hagerstown left-hander Hector Silvestre (5-7, 4.32) in the finale. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm at Perdue Stadium.
