
Lead Slips Away as BlueClaws Fall 7-6 in Kannapolis

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Kannapolis came from 6-3 down, scoring twice in the 6th and twice in the 7th, in topping the BlueClaws 7-6 on Sunday afternoon at CMC Northeast Stadium.
Bradley Salgado, making his 5th appearnace with Kannapolis, retired all 10 hitters he faced in relief to earn his first win. The BlueClaws, who had 12 hits, left seven runs on base in the first six innings, but did not have a base-runner in the final three innings.
Lakewood (11-20/38-62) took a 6-3 lead, scoring three times in the 6th and taking the lead on a single by Malquin Canelo. Andrew Pullin and Andrew Knapp added RBIs for the BlueClaws, who saw their lead slip away.
Kannapolis (17-14/46-52) has won two straight after the BlueClaws took the series opener on Friday night.
Aaron Baker allowed two runs in the bottom of the 6th, on an RBI double by Nolan Early and a groundout by Ryan Leonards. Then in the 7th, Joey DeNato relieved Baker after a lead-off single by Adam Engel. DeNato gave up a bunt single to Christian Stringer which led to a game-tying RBI single by Danny Hayes. Jacob Morris then hit a spinner up the first base line on which he was thrown out at first base, but the spinner drove in Stringer with the go-ahead run.
Baker gave up three runs in one inning and DeNato (1-1) took the loss, allowing one run in two innings.
Four BlueClaws - Carlos Tocci, Andrew Pullin, Dylan Cozens, and Willians Astudillo - had two hits in the game.
Starter Tyler Viza did not factor in the decision after allowing three runs/one earned in five innings.
