Wild Ice Fairbanks with 6-3 Win
November 17, 2014 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Wenatchee Wild News Release
After a stellar performance tonight by the Wenatchee Wild and 6 goals later, the Wild have gained a victorious Game Two win with a final score of 6-3 against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. At the end of the night, Wenatchee was 5 for 7 on the power play along with out shooting the Ice Dogs 34-23. Stars of the Game went to Stevie Bryant, Jake Ahlgren, as well as Mitch Demario and Weatchee can now boast 16 total points in the NAHL South Division. I think that Coach Littler can wrap up tonight's events the best by stating, "Our best effort of the year. We had a lot of buy in tonight. We might have caught the Ice Dogs flat as they had won 10 in a row. Specials teams were very good on both sides of the puck. It will be interesting to see how we respond to this win tomorrow night."
To start off the game, Fairbanks struck first with a lone goal in the first period from the stick of John Teets. Cayden Cahill and Adam Kleven had assists on this goal which occurred at 16:29.
Things quickly turned around in Wenatchee's favor when Mitch Demario sent a power play goal into the back of the Fairbanks net at 11:27 into the second period. Anthony Mangano and Shane Bennett assisted on this geno. At 12:37, it was Jake Ahlgren's turn to light the lamp when he beat Ice Dogs goaltender Chase Munroe on the power play with help from Ivan Bondarenko and Mitch Demario. Fairbanks ended the scoring game for the second period when Todd Burgess put a point up for the Ice Dogs at 19:53 and assists were given to Chandler Madry and Jacob Hetz.
23 seconds into the final period, Stevie Bryant lit the lamp for Wenatchee with help from Colin Burston and Mike Coyne. At the 7:11 mark, Ivan Bondarenko and Brendan Harris were able to set up Jake Ahlgren for his second power play goal of the night that also occurred with an extra attacker on the ice. 8:24 into the third period saw yet another Wild power play goal when Mitch Demario sent one into Fairbanks' cage with help from Brendan Harris and Ivan Bondarenko. Chris Jones scored Wenatchee's last point of the game with a power play goal at 13:10. Mike Coyne and David Powlowski were able to record assists on this point. After 4 unanswered goals, Fairbanks closed the scoring game with an unassisted goal for Hans Gorowsky at the 18:03 mark.
Concluding 60 minutes of play and a fight between Ethan Somoza and Ryan Gotelaere, the Wild recorded 5 penalties and were in the penalty box for a total of 21 minutes. Infractions went to Tyler Rockwell (Cross Checking), Troy Conzo (High Sticking), Ryan Gotelaere (Fighting (Major)), (Fighting (Misconduct)), and Anthony Mangano (High Sticking). The Wild ended the night with 34 total shots on the Fairbanks goal and had a shot record of 8-14-12.
Michael Bullion was in net for Wenatchee tonight and stopped 20 out of 23 shots for the Wild while playing for a total of 59:56 minutes.
