Amarillo Bulls News Release
AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Bulls scored four first period goals and went on to a 6-1 triumph over the Odessa Jackalopes on Sunday at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. It was the Bulls second sweep of the season and it moved them to within two points of fourth place in the South Division.
The victory closed out a two-game home stand and now the Bulls will play the next seven away from home with the next home game not for 31 days until mid-December. The road schedule features three versus Lone Star Brahmas and two versus Odessa and another two against Corpus Christi.
Will Harrison and Riley Christensen each scored twice for Amarillo, while several players had multi-point games. Cody Gylling, and Kasper Emanuelsson each had single tallies. Jacob Weatherly notched the win in goal his first start in a while and played well. It was the Colorado native's third win of the season.
What an opening 20 minutes for the Amarillo Bulls, exploding for four goals on 13 shots. Cody Gylling got the offense started with his third goal of the weekend from Will Harrison at the 3:36 mark. Eight minutes later, the Bulls made it 2-0 on a power play goal by Kasper Emanuelsson who's shot deflected behind Forbes Ploszaj. Jesper Synellius and Cody Gylling assisted on the play. Less than a minute after that, Riley Christiensen scored his first NAHL goal from Tristan Rostagno when he fired a shot that beat Ploszaj. That goal sent Ploszaj to the bench in favor of Robin Johansson. The Bulls quickly got to the new goaltender in final 10 seconds of the stanza when Will Harrison scored from Luke Novak and Jesper Synnelius.
There was no scoring in the second period but the Bulls remained in full control of the game firing 19 shots and limiting Odessa to just seven. The stanza also featured a fight between Cody Gylling and Razmuz Waxin-Engback.
In the third period, Will Harrison notched his second of the game on the power play from Nick Le Sage and Kasper Emanuelsson at 2:06. The Jackalopes snapped the shutout string of goaltender Weatherly by scoring at the 8:22 mark.
The Bulls rounded out the scoring when Riley Christensen scored his second of the game from Addison Runey and Ben Jentsch. There was a great fight near the end of the game as Jentsch and defenseman Jake Hamilton got into it.
Despite getting outshot 11-10 in the third period, the Amarillo Bulls still had the advantage in the game 42-26.
