
Fairbanks Witnesses Game One Between Wild and Ice

This weekend's arrival has also brought the arrival of a three game series in Alaska against the Wild's fierce competitors, the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. Since the Wild's last series against Rio Grande Valley, the team has advanced to 6th place in the NAHL's South Division with 14 total points above the Amarillo Bulls and Odessa Jackalopes. At the end of the night however, Fairbanks walked off the ice with a 4-1 win.
In this tough competition, there was no scoring in the first period.
Ryner Gorowsky scored the lone goal of the second period at 10:56. Assists went to Ethan Somoza and Hans Gorowsky.
Chandler Madry put the Ice Dogs up 2-0 at the 11:10 mark with a power play goal assisted by Johnny Mueller. Wenatchee got on the board when Brendan Harris found the back of the Fairbanks net, on the power play, 12 minutes and 22 seconds into the period. Chris Jones and Mitch Demario were credited with the assists. At 12:40, Todd Burgess scored the Ice Dogs' third goal of the night with help from Chandler Madry and Jacob Hetz. The last goal of the game was scored at 15:52 when Ethan Somoza lit the lamp for the Fairbanks. Hans and Ryner Gorowsky picked up the last points of the night with assists on this goal.
The Wild took 25 penalty minutes during this game and infractions went to Andre Pison (High Sticking), Mike Coyne (Holding), Anthony Mangano (Holding) (Charging (Major)) (Charging (Game Misconduct)), and Shane Cuckovich (Boarding).To end the night, Wenatchee had a 4-13-8 shot record resulting 25 total shots on goal as well as being 1 for 4 on the power play.
Michael Bullion was in the cage for Wenatchee tonight, and while being in goal for 60 minutes, he stopped 29 out of 33 shots.
After this game, Coach Littler stated, "We had our moments that we were pretty good but lost the battle in the last ten minutes of the game. They are a well coached veteran bunch that know how to close out a win."
