Wight Departs, RiverKings Add Strome

SOUTHAVEN, MS --- The Mississippi RiverKings of the Central Hockey League have announced that defenseman Travis Wight has left the team and that forward Anders Strome has been claimed off waivers.

Wight is leaving the RiverKings roster to continue his playing career in Europe. With the RiverKings, the native of Fannystelle, Manitoba, Canada chipped in with a pair of assists in 17 appearances and had 12 penalty minutes. Travis had been on the injured reserve list since November 21st.

Strome started this season with the defending CHL champion Texas Brahmas, where he scored five goals and had six points in 12 appearances. The native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada is a seventh year professional who has playing experience in the CHL with Wichita, Lubbock, Rocky Mountain, and Texas, ECHL experience with Long Beach, Florida, and South Carolina. Strome also has international experience, having played in 36 games last season in Denmark with Odense.

The RiverKings are back home Tuesday, December 29th, when they tangle with the Missouri Mavericks in a 7:05 PM contest at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven. West Tennessee Border Collie Rescue is the night's non-profit MVP.
