Wichita Wind Surge News Release
WICHITA, Kan.-The Wichita Wind Surge gathered a 6-1 win over the Springfield Cardinals at Riverfront Stadium. While scoring all six of their runs in the middle innings, the piggyback role worked to perfection in the contest, which evened the series 2-2.
Matt Lloyd swiftly slotted a single the other way to left field to bring in Michael Siani from third for a Cardinals run in the top of the first. Marco Raya ultimately stranded two runners in scoring position after forcing an infield putout.
After a successful rundown kept the game within one run for Wichita in the top of the third, Aaron Sabato lofted an RBI single out to right field after a balk put a pair of runners in scoring position in the bottom of the fourth.
Jake Rucker brought the Wind Surge ahead on a two-RBI double, his 21st two-bagger of the season, that hugged the left field chalk into the corner in the bottom of the fifth for a 3-1 lead.
Jorel Ortega and Noah Cardenas each connected on doubles in the sixth for three more runs and a five-run cushion that lasted until the end of the game for a 6-1 victory.
Ahead of us coming away with the win tonight, Jorel Ortega and Noah Cardenas brought in three runs on a pair of doubles in the sixth inning.
