Clinton, IA - The West Michigan Whitecaps had a hitting party at Ashford University Field on Friday night and the LumberKings' pitchers were invited. In the rubber match of the three-game set, the 'Caps collected 20 hits in a 12-3 blowout over the LumberKings.

The 20 hits is a new season-high in a single game by West Michigan and is also a season-high given up by Clinton pitching. The scoring came in bunches for West Michigan as they never allowed Seon-Gi Kim to settle in. Kim allowed eight consecutive hits to start the game. He was pulled in favor of reliever Kyle Hunter with the score 5-0 in the top of the first inning. Hunter allowed a single to Gabriel Purroy, the first batter he faced, to make it 6-0. The left-hander then struck out the side to get out of the nightmare inning. Kim was charged with six earned runs on seven hits in his second loss of the year.

West Michigan tacked on a single tally in the second on Jeff McVaney's run-scoring single to up their lead to 7-0. Clinton got on the board in the third on a RBI groundout by Mario Yepez and a run-scoring single by Kevin Rivers. The five run difference is as close as the LumberKings would come all night as they trailed 8-3 in the sixth before West Michigan scored the final four runs of the game.

Every player in the West Michigan lineup had at least one hit and all but third baseman Edgar Corcino had two hits. The Whitecaps were led by left fielder Jason Krizan who had four hits including a solo blast in the fifth inning off David Colvin. Aaron Westlake was 3 for 5 with two runs scored and two runs knocked in. Eugenio Suarez and Jeff McVaney each socked two-run homers in the first inning.

Wilsen Palacios picked up his 10th win of the year and is now tied for the Midwest League lead. Palacios allowed three earned runs on eight hits in six innings.

Clinton starts a new three-game series on Saturday night against the South Bend Silver Hawks. Right-hander Jordan Pries (0-0, 4.76) makes his home debut for the LumberKings and right-hander J.R. Bradley (6-5, 4.43) starts for the Silver Hawks. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
