West Michigan Whitecaps News Release
The Midwest League announced today that Whitecaps' third baseman Bryan Pounds and right-handed pitcher Luke Putkonen have been named Player and Pitcher of the Week.
Pounds is batting .285 with two home runs and a team-leading 48 RBI including a 3-for-5, six-RBI performance yesterday against Dayton.
Putkonen is 5-4 with a 3.98 ERA and 71 strikeouts in 86.1 innings pitched with the Whitecaps this season. In his last start, Putkonen fired a complete game shutout against South Bend.
