Whitecaps FC Transfer Simon Becher to Danish Side AC Horsens
January 17, 2024 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Vancouver Whitecaps FC News Release
VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Wednesday that the club has transferred forward Simon Becher to Denmark's 1. Division side AC Horsens. Whitecaps FC will retain a percentage of future transfer fees.
"Simon has improved tremendously since first joining our club in 2022, which is credit to him as well as a byproduct of the integration with our MLS NEXT Pro team," said Axel Schuster, Whitecaps FC sporting director. "With successful development comes increasing interest in our players. This transfer makes sense for all parties, as it allows us to continue to build our roster while giving Simon a platform to move forward in his career. We wish Simon all the best."
Last year, after signing an MLS contract with the first team, Becher scored seven goals for the 'Caps as he made six starts and 25 appearances across all competitions. This included an MLS record for the fewest minutes played to score his first four career goals.
In 2022, Becher was selected 16th overall by Whitecaps FC in the MLS SuperDraft and was signed to the club's MLS NEXT Pro side Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2). The native of Brooklyn, Connecticut started 20 of his 22 appearances and led WFC2 with eight goals, adding four assists. In addition, Becher became the first WFC2 MLS NEXT Pro player to score for the first team when he found the back of the net during an MLS short-term call-up.
TRANSACTION: On January 17, 2024, Vancouver Whitecaps FC transfer forward Simon Becher to Denmark's 1. Division side AC Horsens.
