Moose Jaw, Sask. -- The Brandon Wheat Kings have moved back into a tie with the Saskatoon Blades atop the Western Hockey League's Eastern Division standings.

The Wheat Kings improved their record to 24-11-0-2 Friday night with a 4-1 victory over the hometown Warriors in Moose Jaw in game one of a back to back weekend series that will come to an end Saturday night at Westman Communications Group Place.

Friday's win, coupled by Saskatoon's 4-2 loss to the Raiders in Prince Albert, vaulted the Wheat Kings back into a first place tie entering Saturday's action - Brandon's final pre-Christmas game.

Newly acquired left-winger Shane Wiebe scored in his Wheat Kings' debut on Friday while veteran Andrew Hayes turned aside sixteen of 17 shots.

Mark Stone, Jay Fehr and Paul Van de Velde also scored for the Wheat Kings, who ran their season high win streak to seven games.

Following the game, members of the hockey club will be returning home for the Christmas break, with plans to return on Boxing Day. Brandon kicks off the second half of the 2009-10 season with a game against the Broncos in Swift Current on December 28th.

Tickets to Saturday's game will be on sale Saturday morning at the Keystone Centre box office. Fans can also order online at ticketmaster.ca or by calling 726-3555.
