
Wheat Kings To Host Torch, Amanda Stott

Brandon, Manitoba - Western Manitoba hockey fans should should circle this Wednesday, January 6th on their calendar, as the Wheat Kings and Westman Communications Group Place will be hosting two special events before their game against the visiting Lethbridge Hurricanes.
The Wheat Kings, who kicked off 2010 Saturday night with a convincing 8-2 victory over the visiting Prince Albert Raiders, will be welcoming local singing star Amanda Stott as well as a number of other special guests, including representatives of both Coca Cola and RBC, in recognition of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay.
Wednesday's pre-game ceremony is being held in order to promote the Olympic Flame's arrival to Brandon this week. A celebration is being planned at the Riverbank Discovery Centre later this week, featuring live entertainment, special guests and a cauldron lighting ceremony.
Among the special guests that will be in Brandon for the event will be 27-year old Amanda Stott, who is home for the Christmas holidays this week.
In addition to Friday night's Olympic Torch celebrations, Amanda will be performing the National Anthem before Wednesday's game at Westman Place.
Amanda is currently living in Nashville, focusing her attention on songwriting and working on her new CD, which is scheduled for this spring.
Tickets to both Wednesday's game - Victoria Inn Must Win Steak Night - as well as Friday's contest vs. Medicine Hat will go back on sale first thing Monday morning at the Keystone Centre box office. Fans can also order online at ticketmaster.ca or by calling 726-3555.
Friday night's game is Family Skate Night, presented by 880 CKLQ, 94.7 Star FM and The Home Depot. Fans attending are being encouraged to bring their skates and join the players on the ice following the game.
