
Wheat Kings Team Up With Red Cross In Support Of Japan

Brandon, MB. - The Brandon Wheat Kings, in conjunction with the Canadian Red Cross are pleased to announce that donations in support of Red Cross relief efforts in Japan will be accepted at Saturday night's Western Hockey League game against the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors at Westman Place.
On Friday, March 11th, a 9.0 magnitude earthquake struck the island nation of Japan, causing major damage and triggering 4 metre waves in Japan and tsunami warnings across the Pacific Coast.
Thousands of people are reported dead and many more are injured or missing. The earthquake, believed to the largest to ever hit Japan, has caused fires and severe damage to buildings, leaving millions of people homeless.
The local office or the Canadian Red Cross will be set up inside the east and west main entrances to Westman Place and will be accepting donations throughout the game.
The Red Cross response to this disaster was immediate. The Japanese Red Cross has a network of over 2 million registered volunteers. Over 80 health and disaster relief teams are currently on the ground, providing emergency medical assistance, assisting in evacuations and distributing urgently needed supplies.
Western Manitobans that will be unable to attend the game on Saturday can still support relief efforts by contributing in a number of ways:
