Brandon, MB. -- The Brandon Wheat Kings ran their Western Hockey League winning streak to three games and moved into sole posession of first place Friday night with a come from behind 5-2 victory over the visiting Calgary Hitmen at Westman Place.

Trailing 2-1 after forty minutes of play, the Wheat Kings evened the score onRyan Pulock's second period blast, before taking the game over in the final period by scoring three unanswered goals.

Brenden Walker led the Wheat Kings' attack with two goals and two assists while captainMark Stone added a goal and two helpers. Stone has now scored goals in seven straight games and has managed at least a point in a league leading 17 games.

Michael Ferland rounded out the scoring for the Wheat Kings, who received a 25-save performance from veteran netminderBrandon Anderson. 17-year old defencemanEric Roy chipped in with three assists for the winners.

Calgary's goals - both shorthanded markers 40 seconds apart in the first period - came off the sticks ofJoey Kornelsen andTrevor Cheek.

With the win, the Wheat Kings improved their home ice record to 4-2-0-1 and 11-5-0-1 overall, good for 23 points and a one point lead on the second place Regina Pats in the Western Hockey League's Eastern Division. Saskatoon and Moose Jaw meanwhile are two points back. Moose Jaw edged Saskatoon 3-2 Friday night, while the Pats were idle.

Brandon will close out a 2-game weekend home stand Saturday night against the 12-5-0 Medicine Hat Tigers. The Tigers are currently two points behind the Central Division leading Kootenay Ice.

Wheat Kings will be without veteran left-wingerDarian DziurzynskiSaturday as the former Saskatoon Blade will be serving the second and last game of his 2-game WHL suspension.
