
Portland defeats Kelowna

The Portland Winterhawks defeated the Kelowna Rockets 6-5 in a shootout Friday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna, spoiling the return of Brett Bulmer to the Rockets lineup.
Bulmer had a four point night but the Winterhawks through the last dagger, scoring in a shootout to end a game that had a little bit of everything, from a penalty shot, to two video reviews and finally the shootout.
The Hawks won the game without ever having a lead, and goalie Mac Carruth shut the door in the shootout having not played a minute, coming off the bench to stone the Rockets in the shootout.
The Rockets earned a point for the shootout loss, its record now sitting at 5-9-1-1.
Bulmer had two goals and two assists in the game while Zach Franko also scored twice and Shane McColgan added the other Kelowna goal.
Jordon Cooke was excellent in net, facing 49 shots on the night.
Ty Rattie scored twice for Portland while Tyler Wotherspoon Brad Ross and William Wrenn also scored for the Hawks.
The two teames meet again Saturday night in Kelowna.
