
Oil Kings Skate Past T-Birds

Edmonton, AB, November 5, 2011 - The Edmonton Oil Kings defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-1 Saturday night at Rexall Place in Edmonton.
This was the second of six games on the road for the T-Birds. They lost 8-2 to the Red Deer Rebels on Friday night. The T-Birds take on the Medicine Hat Tigers on Tuesday, November 8, at 6pm at the Medicine Hat Arena.
Edmonton (10-5-1-1) jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 4:58 of the first period on a goal from Kristians Pelss. Keegan Lowe and T.J. Foster had the assists. The Oil Kings increased their lead to 2-0 at 10:32 of the first when Jordan Peddle scored. Stephane Legault and Mark Pysyk were credited with the assists.
Pysyk scored with one second left in the first to give Edmonton a 3-0 lead heading into the first intermission. Michael St. Croix and Dylan Wruck had the assists.
Edmonton outshot Seattle 16-6 in the first period.
Seattle (5-9-0-0) got on the board at 5:18 of the first period on a power-play goal from Connor Sanvido. Brendan Rouse stole the puck from Edmonton goalie Laurent Brossoit behind the Edmonton net and centered it to Sanvido. Sanvido snapped the pass past a sprawling Brossoit to get his second goal of the season.
Edmonton converted on a power play of their own at 18:34 of the first to go back in front by three goals. Curtis Lazar had the goal on assists from St. Croix and Josh Lazowski.
The Oil Kings outshot the T-Birds 12-11 in the second period and led 28-17 in total shots after two periods.
Edmonton outshot Seattle 16-8 in a scoreless third period and 44-25 in the game.
Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard made 40 saves on 44 shots and his record fell to 5-8-0-0.
Brossoit stopped 24 of 25 shots and his record improved to 9-5-1-0.
T-Birds single game tickets for the 2011-12 season are available online at the T-Birds website and at the ShoWare Center box office. The ShoWare Center Box Office is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday game days at 10 a.m. and Sunday game days at noon.
