Last Game: The Wheat Kings closed out a 3 game in 3 night Alberta road trip with a 2-0 shutout over the Edmonton Oil Kings. Nate Danielson led the way with 1 goal and 1 assist earning first star honours. Goaltender Carson Bjarnason stopped all 19 shots he faced, picking up his 3rd shutout of the season. The only goaltender to have more shutouts than Carson Bjarnason? Scott Ratzlaff of the Seattle Thunderbirds who was Bjarnason's Hlinka Teammate and counterpart in the Top Prospects game.
Jan 27th VS Moose Jaw Warriors : The Wheat Kings and Warriors go head to head for the 5th time this season. The last matchup was Saturday January 14th when the Wheat Kings suffered a 4-3 loss. It was a game where the Wheat Kings allowed all 4 Warriors goals in the 2nd period alone. The Wheat Kings didn't give up scoring a pair in the third period but they ran out of time. The new guys Dawson Pasternak & Nolan Flamand both scored their firsts as Wheat Kings in the loss.
Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game: Nate Danielson's Team White took home the victory in the Top Prospects Game Wednesday night. Danielson picked up an assist in the game. Goaltender Carson Bjarnason was solid between the pipes for Team Red stopping 16 of 17 shots.
New Alternate Captains: Wheat Kings Coaching Staff announced Saturday morning that Quinn Mantei & Logen Hammett have been named Alternate Captains for the remainder of the season. This fills the vacancy left from Jake Chiasson & Mason Ward being dealt at the Trade Deadline. When the Wheat Kings wear Home White's the Captain will be Nolan Ritchie, with alternates Brett Hyland, Nate Danielson & Logen Hammett. When the Wheat Kings wear their road black jerseys the Captain will be Nate Danielson, with alternates Nolan Ritchie, Calder Anderson & Quinn Mantei.
Who's Hot: Brett Hyland currently has 14 goals scored in his last 14 games. Forward Nate Danielson has been stellar as of late scoring 41 points in his last 26 games. Nolan Ritchie has 32 points in his last 23 games. Calder Anderson has 18 points in his last 17 games.
