In Search of Goals - Nashville SC took 15 shots on Saturday, but was unable to find the back of the net. Head Coach Gary Smith says he is satisfied that his team is creating opportunities and thinks the goals will come with time for his new group.
"We do need games," Smith said. "The guys up front are normally the last individuals to find that sparkle and that feel in the final third. But when they do, and I've seen it before, it gives confidence to everyone. It breathes an air of positivity around the group once you get moving up front. I have no doubt they will. There's too many good things going on to get despondent, we just keep moving in that direction, and we'll try and find the remedy for one or two of the disappointments of the weekend."
Scouting Successful Orlando - Orlando City SC was one of the surprise stories of the MLS is Back Tournament as the hometown team. Nashville was scheduled to play Orlando in the group stage before being withdrawn from the tournament.
Defender Walker Zimmerman has played for Orlando head coach Oscar Pareja before with FC Dallas and therefore knows the backline faces a stiff test from a dynamic Orlando attack.
"From having watched them in the MLS is Back Tournament, I expect a lot of the same things," Zimmerman said. "They have some speed up top and on the wing. We talk a lot about Chris Mueller having a good tournament; Tesho Akindele as well can score some goals and they have a hard-working spine. I'm really excited to get back and have a midweek game, put the loss behind us and get ready to compete again. "
Muyl in the Mix? - Nashville SC announced the acquisition of winger Alex Muyl from the New York Red Bulls earlier this month. Muyl has been in training but was not on the trip to Atlanta this past weekend.
While Smith wouldn't commit to any particular match as a target debut for Muyl, he says he's excited to have him as an option as the schedule gets more congested.
"Alex was left behind over the weekend to give him an opportunity to make sure he's fully settled in, that his period of time preparing and in quarantine was completely out of his system," Smith said. "He's had a good weekend, he's had a good session today, he's certainly in my plans and in my thoughts for the foreseeable future. He's a nice addition and certainly in this run of games, he's an individual we'll be pleased to see in and around the group."
