WASHINGTON D.C. - The New England Revolution (2-1-4, 10 pts.) defeated D.C. United (1-3-3, 6 pts.), 2-1, at Audi Field on Tuesday night behind goals from Gustavo Bou and Teal Bunbury. Bou opened the scoring in the 26th minute with a strike from distance, before Bunbury - following a 46-minute weather delay - doubled New England's lead in the 38th minute with a headed goal off a corner kick.

Bou's goal was his second of the season, and his 11th in 21 career MLS appearances. He registered three shots in tonight's contest and continues the pace the league in that category with 25 on the year. Bunbury's goal, which proved to be the game winner, was also his second of the season. He now owns 14 game-winning goals for his Revolution career, which moves him past Steve Ralston for third-most in club history. Alexander Büttner registered the first assist of his MLS career on Bunbury's tally.

D.C. United forward Ola Kamara converted a penalty kick in the 72nd minute, but the Revolution maintained the lead and secured all three points despite finishing the match with 10 men.

In net, goalkeeper Matt Turner made two saves in the winning effort. He has conceded four goals through six starts this season, including only three from the run of play.

Assistant Coach Richie Williams registered his first career win in place of Head Coach Bruce Arena, who served the second game of his three-game suspension during tonight's contest. Midfielder Scott Caldwell, who was issued a red card for serious foul play in the 83rd minute and will miss Saturday's match against New York.

New England returns to action on Saturday, Aug. 29, when the club the New York Red Bulls at Gillette Stadium. The match kicks off at 8:00 p.m. ET on FS1, 98.5 The Sports Hub, and in Portuguese on WBIX 1260 AM Nossa Radio USA.

Revolution Extend Unbeaten Streak to Six Regular-Season Matches

The Revolution (2-1-4, 10 pts.) defeated D.C. United (1-3-3, 6 pts.), 2-1, on Tuesday night at Audi Field in Washington, D.C.

With the win, New England extended its unbeaten streak to six regular-season matches, with the club's last defeat dating back to a 2-1 loss at Montreal in the season opener on Feb. 29.

The victory was New England's first in three matches at Audi Field.

Assistant Coach Richie Williams registered his first career win. Williams served as the head coach for New England in place of Bruce Arena, who served the second game of a three-game suspension due to a red card issued following the club's July 25 match vs. Philadelphia in the MLS is Back Tournament.

Gustavo Bou Continues to Pace New England's Attack

Forward Gustavo Bou gave the club a 1-0 lead on an unassisted right-footed shot to the bottom right corner of the net in the 26th minute.

The goal was Bou's second of the season, which places him in a three-way tie for the team lead in goals in 2020 with forwards Teal Bunbury and Adam Buksa.

Bou wore the captains' armband for the fourth time this season tonight. He recorded 86 minutes of playing time tonight and led the team in shots (3) and shots on goal (3).

Teal Bunbury nets second goal of 2020, passes Juan Agudelo for eight-most goals in club history

Forward Teal Bunbury scored the game-winning goal tonight on a header off Alexander Büttner's corner kick in the 37th minute, after a 30-minute weather delay.

The goal was Bunbury's 36th of his Revs career, which moves him past Juan Agudelo for eighth place in the club's all-time goal scoring chart.

Bunbury is one goal away from entering a three-way tie with Shalrie Joseph and Pat Noonan for seventh place on the club's all-time goal scoring list.

Bunbury has now scored 14 game-winning goals for his Revolution career, which moves him past Steve Ralston for third-most in club history

Bunbury, who made his fourth appearance on the Starting XI this season, played his first full 90-minute match of the 2020 campaign.

Revolution Make No Changes to Starting Lineup

The Revolution deployed an unchanged starting lineup from New England's last match- a scoreless draw against the Philadelphia Union on Aug. 20.

Midfielder Matt Polster made his second appearance in a Revolution uniform since joining the club via transfer from Rangers FC of the Scottish Premiership. Polster played the full 90 minutes in defensive midfield.

Rookie defender Henry Kessler, who has appeared in each match this season, recorded his third consecutive 90-minute performance and his fifth appearance on the Starting XI.
