Connecticut Defenders News Release

NORWICH, CT- The gift of giving back to the community came to fruition today, as the Defenders and Easter Seals of Norwich unveiled newly purchased rehabilitation furniture.

"The Defenders are great neighbors who really came through and helped us when we needed it. We are truly appreciative of their efforts," said Registered Nurse/DSO Coordinator Corinne Renaldi.

Last year an unfortunate incident occurred at the Easter Seals location in Norwich where special rehabilitation furniture was stolen. The Defenders read of this terrible crime and contacted Easter Seals immediately to see if they could be of any assistance. With one of their neighbors in a time of need, the Defenders responded by running a "launch a ball" promotion where fans purchased tennis balls for a post-game promotion to win prizes but help support Easter Seals. At the end of the season, the Defenders collected all the profits and donated it to Easter Seals to help replace the stolen furniture.

"We continue to strive to serve the communities that support us and we are especially proud to be able to help our neighbors, Easter Seals. The work they do is critical and we are hopeful that this new equipment will enable them to help the lives of others," said Defenders General Manager Charlie Dowd.
