Akron RubberDucks News Release

AKRON, OH - Aeros outfielder Trevor Crowe was named Bank of America Eastern League Player of the Week today for the week ending June 29th. It is the second consecutive week Akron's leadoff hitter has received the award, and it is the third straight week an Aero has claimed the honor as third baseman Wes Hodges won it for the week ending June 15th. RHP Randy Newsom and LHP David Huff have also won weekly awards for the Aeros this season.

Crowe hit .464 (13-28) last week with two doubles, a triple, two home runs, 10 RBI, and 11 runs scored in seven games against Bowie and Reading. Crowe put together four multi-hit games and led the Eastern League in batting average, RBI, runs and on-base percentage (.531) last week. He also slugged .821 on the week for a 1.352 OPS.

Over his last 11 games, Crowe is hitting .522 (24-46) with 11 extra-base hits (including four home runs), 18 RBI, 18 runs, and has raised his batting average 82 points from .231 on June 19th to .313 today. His batting average leads the team, though he still falls 26 plate appearances short of qualifying for the league leaders after he missed 35 games in April and May with a back strain.

Crowe was 4-6 with two runs and two RBI, including the game-tying RBI double, in Akron's 11-10 comeback win over Bowie last Monday, and went 4-5 with two RBI and two runs scored in Akron's 9-7 loss to the Baysox Wednesday. Crowe had his biggest game of the season Friday night, going 3-5 with four runs, four RBI, and a grand slam that highlighted a six-run seventh inning in a 16-6 rout of Reading. Crowe pounded a lead-off home run in the eighth inning Sunday afternoon that proved to be the difference in Akron's 7-6 win over the Phillies, and also banged an RBI triple off the wall in right-center in the third inning to score the first run of the game.

On the year, Crowe is hitting .313 with four home runs, 26 RBI, 41 runs scored, 26 walks, a .406 on-base percentage, and an OPS of .897. The outfielder also has nine stolen bases in 12 tries and has committed just one error this season. The Indians drafted Crowe in the first round (14th overall) of the 2005 June Draft out of the University of Arizona. He hit .259 for the Aeros last season with five homers, 50 RBI, and 28 stolen bases.

The Aeros hit the road for an eight-game, two-city road trip beginning Monday night with a 7:05 p.m. game against the Erie SeaWolves. Akron will send Frank Herrmann (7-3, 5.08 ERA) to make the start against Erie's Ben Fritz (2-3, 5.63 ERA). Akron does not return home until July 8th when they begin a three-game series against Bowie. The game broadcast begins at 6:50 p.m. on SportsRadio 1350 AM and online at www.akronaeros.com. For more information, please call the Aeros at (330) 253-5151.
