Michael Gardner activated from the Disabled List

(Trenton, NJ)- The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that RHP Michael Gardner has been activated from the Disabled List. The Thunder currently have 23 players on the active roster, one below the league maximum (24).

Gardner was placed on the Disabled List on June 4th. He is 3-3 with a 3.00 ERA in 18 games for the Thunder this season. He has 5 saves in 6 chances. Gardner was a Rule 5 selection by the San Diego Padres during the off-season, but was returned to the Yankees Organization during 2008 Spring Training. Last season, he had a 3-5 record for the Thunder with a 2.88 ERA and 1 SV in 44 games (3 starts). He was originally selected by the Yankees in the 13th round of the 2003 draft.

Trenton opens a series tonight against the Portland Sea Dogs, the Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, at Waterfront Park. Game time is set for 7:05 PM.
