Windsor Spitfires News Release
Another Windsor-Plymouth game went to overtime on Thursday night.
But for the first time in three tries this season, the Spitfires couldn't grab the extra point.
Austin Levi scored 49 seconds into overtime, giving the visiting Whalers a 5-4 in front of 5,567 at the WFCU Centre.
Alexander Khokhlachev had another huge game for Windsor (11-11-2-1), scoring a pair of goals including the tying marker at 17:55 of the third period.
Ben Johnson scored his third in two games, Adrian Robertson had a goal and an assist and Kerby Rychel chipped in a pair of assists in a losing cause.
BAD START
The Spits were forced to play catch-up after falling behind 3-0 in the opening 12:33 on goals by Garrett Meurs, Beau Schmitz and Tom Wilson.
Khokhlachev's first of the night got the home side within two before the opening 20 minutes was out.
Robertson (5) and Johnson (3) pulled the Spits even after 40 minutes with second period goals.
Andy Bathgate's eighth of the season, a powerplay marker at 11:59 of the third put the Whalers up 4-3.
The bus pulls out of town tomorrow, as the Spitfires head out on the road again, with stops in Peterborough (Saturday) and Oshawa (Sunday).
