
Rangers Defeat Otters, 8-1

Kitchener, ON - The Erie Otters fell to their sixth straight loss as the Kitchener Rangers came out on top, 8-1, at Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Friday night.
The Rangers took a 3-0 lead into the locker room after 20 minutes of play on goals by Tobias Rieder, Cody Sol and Mike Catenacci.
Rieder added his second goal of the game 42 seconds into the second period to give the Rangers a 4-0 lead heading into the second intermission.
Kitchener scored two more within 29 seconds early in the third period, which saw the debut of rookie *Devin Williams* following the Rangers' sixth goal. Williams was sharp in his debut with 10 saves, including a breakaway stop with the left toe on Catenacci and a one-timer save on Ben Thomson with the right pad.
The Otters scored their only goal of the game as *Luke Cairns* banged in a rebound from a *Patrick Murphy* shot during a power play seven minutes, 29 seconds into the third period. It was Murphy's first OHL point in his second OHL game.
Keli Grant and Brent Pedersen scored the final two goals for Kitchener to complete the rout.
The Otters return home Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. for Red Cross Night against the Guelph Storm. Bring winter clothes (jacket, gloves, hat, etc.) and get into the game for $2.00. All donations will go to the American Red Cross. For tickets, call 452-4857 or log on to ottershockey.com.
