Niagara IceDogs News Release
The Niagara IceDogs dropped a tough 2-1 game to the Plymouth Whalers Saturday night in Plymouth.
Once again, the IceDogs ran into a hot goalie as Alex Nedeljkovic stopped all 30 shots he faced in the first two periods. The Whalers got on the board at 17:24 of the first, when Cullen Mercer redirected Sonny Milano's pass past Brent Moran on the power play.
Mikkel Aagaard's fourth of the season tied the game up for the IceDogs early in the third period on the power play. Aaron Haydon's point shot was stopped by Nedeljkovic, but Aagaard was able to beat him on the rebound.
It remained tied for a while, but Vincent Scognamiglio's wrist shot beat Moran with just over five minutes to go to restore the Whalers lead. The IceDogs poured on the pressure late, but couldn't find a way to beat Nedeljkovic for a second time.
The IceDogs are back at it Thursday night when they host the Belleville Bulls at the Meridian Centre.
