Oshawa Generals News Release

The Generals and the Bulls, two strong Eastern Division teams, took to the ice at the General Motors Centre for some Friday night hockey. The Generals defeated the Bulls for the third time this season in a 6-4 win over the Bulls.

From the first puck drop, the game was fast and intense and made it clear why these teams are at the top of their division. The Generals got things started early with a goal from Anthony Cirelli at 2:50, assisted by Michael Dal Colle and Chris Carlisle. Belleville took the first penalty of the night, a hooking call for Michael Cramarossa at 9:06. At 9:24 in the first, Elie was sent to the penalty box for delay of game. At the same time, Lemcke and Smith were also punished for dropping the gloves in a fight. Lemcke and Smith took five minutes for fighting. Smith was also removed from the game for a game misconduct of removing Lemcke's helmet. The period pressed on with the Generals showing a strong offense. With the Generals on a powerplay, the team took advantage and Cole Cassels scored the first of the night, assisted by Tobias Lindberg and Michael Dal Colle. Less than a minute later, Cassels scored his second, this time assisted by Dal Colle and Mitchell Vande Sompel. Only halfway through the first period, the Generals had a 3-0 lead over the Bulls.

At 12:22 in the first, Aidan Wallace was sent to the penalty box for holding the stick. The Bulls needed a goal and Stephen Harper put the first Bulls goal past goaltender, Kenny Appleby. The goal came assisted from Elie and Laishram. The period ended with the Generals leading shots on goal 14-11 over the Bulls.

The second period featured only a few penalties, two for Cole Cassels, including tripping and interference calls, and one for Jake Bricknell, who received two minutes for charging after things got chippy between him and Generals captain, Josh Brown. With Bricknell in the penalty box, the Generals went to work and Tobias Lindberg put one past Charlie Graham, assisted by Cole Cassels and Mitchell Vande Sompel. Before the second period had come to a close, Cassels and Dal Colle had already put up three points respectively. With just over a minute to go in the second period, Belleville's Brandon Saigeon put one more goal in and narrowed the Generals lead to 4-2. Shots on goal remained the same in the second period, with the Generals once again outshooting the Bulls 14-11.

The third period commenced with Cole Cassels in the penalty box on his interference call, but the Generals were ready to work off the penalty. After a successful penalty kill, the third period continued to move at an extremely fast pace between these two very physical teams. With the Generals up 4-2, they were looking for another and Kenny Huether scored his first ever OHL goal, greeted in excitement by his teammates. Huether's goal was assisted by Cole Cassels and Bradley Latour. The next goal didn't come until 12:29 when Saigeon scored his second of the night, assisted by Tomasek and Elie. The Belleville Bulls were looking to stay in the game and at 17:53 Alex Yuill scored another for the Bulls, further narrowing the Generals lead to 5-4. The Generals were persistent though and weren't ready to let the Belleville Bulls come back. With less than 20 seconds remaining in the third period, Latour secured the win for the Generals with a goal assisted by Josh Brown. The Bulls outshot the Generals 10-9 in the third period, but the Generals proved to be victorious.
