Whalen Crushes Cougars Again

Peoria, Illinois - Brady Whalen pounded out four RBIs to hand the Kane County Cougars (61-47, 26-13) a 6-3 loss to the Peoria Chiefs (42-66, 12-27) on Thursday night at Dozer Park. Whalen has two homers and 10 RBIs in the first three games of the series.

Before Whalen's heroics, the Cougars took an early lead. Blaze Alexander doubled in a pair of runs in the first inning. With the Cougars up 2-0, Whalen came to the plate in the third inning and belted a three-run go-ahead homer. In the fifth, Whalen added to the Peoria lead with an RBI single. Imeldo Diaz doubled to the Chiefs' two-run lead with an RBI double to make it 6-2. Zac Almond's RBI single in the top of the seventh cut the Cougars' deficit to 6-3.

All six runs were charged to Cougar starter Matt Tabor (5-3), who took a loss in 4.2 innings of work. Chester Pimentel fired 3.1 innings of scoreless relief. Parker Kelly (3-1) earned the win for Peoria, lasting six innings, giving up two runs with no walks and four strikeouts.
