Bats Stumble in Loss to Kernels 4-2
August 1, 2019 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Beloit Sky Carp News Release
BELOIT, WI - It took all the way until the ninth inning to decide this one, unfortunately, not in favor of the Snappers as they fell to the Kernels by a score of 4-2. Beloit struggled to get the bats going, but did received excellent pitching throughout the evening.
In the first inning, Beloit would get the scoring started hanging a two spot on the board in the bottom half. Max Schuemann would lead the inning off with a double down the right field line to put a runner on and no outs to open up the game.
After an error that plated a run and a walk to Devin Foyle, Nick Osborne smashed a double down the line to plate Foyle and give the Snappers the 2-0 lead. However, that would be all the scoring in the ballgame tonight, but it would not be all the scoring for Cedar Rapids.
For Cedar Rapids, they would plate two in the third and two in the ninth to take the 4-2 advantage and eventually, the victory on the evening.
For Beloit on the mound, starter Aiden McIntyre would get the start and was solid in the appearance. McIntyre would end his day after six solid innings giving up just 2 runs on 5 hits, while punching out 9.
Josh Reagan would be first out of the pen and was marvelous throwing 2 scoreless innings.
Reagan gave up no runs on the day nor hits, while punching out one and walking none.
Beloit will be back in action tomorrow when they take on the Cedar Rapids Kernels looking for the series split. Tomorrow will be out Oven Mitt giveaway courtesy of SSM Health and Scout Night at Pohlman Field. First pitch is at 6:30 and Oven Mitt's will be given out at a first come, first serve basis.
