Westchester Knicks News Release

WHITE PLAINS, NY - The Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, have traded Xavier Rathan-Mayes to the Texas Legends in exchange for Jameel Warney, pending successful completion of physicals by both players, as announced by the team Tuesday afternoon.

Jameel Warney, 6'7 259, comes to Westchester after appearing in 22 games this season for the Texas Legends, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks. He is averaging 13.7 on 43-percent shooting (seventh-best on the team) and 6.8 rebounds (third-best on the team).

Warney scored 2,132 points during his four years at Stony Brook before going undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft. The New Brunswick, NJ native signed two contracts with the Dallas Mavericks from 2016-2017 and signed a 10-day contract with the club in March 2018. Amid those deals, Warney also spent time with their G League affiliate.

Rathan-Mayes, 6'4 208, was most recently with the AEK Athens of the Greek Basket League from late July to late December.

Rathan-Mayes' professional career began in Westchester in 2017. Following a four-year career at Florida State, the guard went undrafted in the 2017 NBA Draft and joined the New York Knicks for its Summer League team that summer. Once waived following the NBA preseason, Rathan-Mayes starred in one of two stints for Westchester, the second following his 10-day contract with the Memphis Grizzlies.

With the Dub Knicks, the Canadian averaged 16.7 points in 43 games on 43-percent shooting (third-best on the team). He shot 33.8-percent from distance, collected 6.4 rebounds per game (third-best on the team) and dished 7.2 assists per game (309 total assists slotted first on the team).

The Knicks (16-9) return to action on Friday, January 11 at Rio Grande Valley.
