Westchester Knicks Pull out 42-Point Fourth Quarter for Comeback Win at Lakeland Magic

LAKELAND, FL - The Westchester Knicks (28-14), the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, used a 42-point fourth quarter after trailing the Lakeland Magic (20-21), the Orlando Magic's affiliate, for the majority of a game to take its fourth win in a row 110-105.

Knicks affiliate Nigel Hayes finished with 35 points, just two points shy of his record, adding six rebounds and three each of assists and steals. Guard Billy Garrett supplied 22 points with five assists and three each of rebounds and steals. Zak Irvin recorded a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds while in his first start of the season while Devon Baulkman contributed 10 points with five rebounds. From the pine, Sekou Wiggs provided 16 points, capturing his first double-double of the season with 10 rebounds.

Lakeland's Byron Mullens paced the Magic with 22 points and seven rebounds. Magic affiliate Rodney Purvis finished with 21 points and three assists, his fellow affiliate Troy Caupain notching a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds. Two- Way player Jamel Artis provided 16 points with five assists and three rebounds.

The teams stayed evenly matched through the first seven minutes of the game until Lakeland took off on an 11-0 run, nine of which came from three-pointers, to take a 12-point lead. Heading into the second quarter with a nine-point deficit, Westchester found itself down by as many as 13. The visitors kept pace though, avoiding a total runaway quarter and heading into the half down by nine.

The Knicks managed to tie it up at 60 by outscoring the Magic 14-6 in the first part of the third quarter, but Lakeland promptly went on another 11-point run to extend its lead back into double-digits. By the end of the third, Westchester trailed by six. Whatever the Knicks were holding back exploded in the fourth with a powerful 42-point performance. The Magic had a solid quarter of its own with 31, making it an exciting finish ending up in Westchester's favor.

The Westchester Knicks will visit the Long Island Nets, the Brooklyn Nets' affiliate, this Tuesday, March 6 at 7:00 p.m. ET. The game will be streamed live exclusively via Twitch.
