
Balanced Effort Helps Blue Sweep Lakers

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - The Oklahoma City Blue (23-20) defeated the South Bay Lakers (26-17), 127-119, for the third and final time this season on the second night of a back-to-back.
The Lakers were the first to strike, going up by as many as 19 points in the first quarter. Down 57-39 midway through the second, Oklahoma City went on a 17-3 run to cut the deficit to four. Justin Leon registered eight points during that run before finishing with his third double-double this season of 16 points and 10 rebounds.
The Blue came out of halftime down by 11 points before a Leon three-point jumper sparked another 14-6 run to go up 80-76. The teams battled through the third quarter, which featured four lead changes and three ties, but South Bay never held a lead past the start of the fourth quarter.
Two-way player Daniel Hamilton nearly notched a triple-double with 23 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists, 17 points of which came in the second half. Javan Felix scored all 19 of his points after halftime.
There were seven Blue players in double figures as Bryce Alford drained eight shots from beyond the arc en route to scoring a game-best 26 points. Michael Cobbins produced 10 points by going a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor. Oklahoma City outscored South Bay in the paint 60-34 and in second chance points 30-12.
For the Lakers, Scott Machado registered a double-double of 21 points and career-high 18 assists.
The Blue will return to action on Wednesday, March 7, facing off against the Lakeland Magic at 11 a.m. inside Chesapeake Energy Arena.
