
Bighorns Grab Win in Arizona

PRESCOTT, Ariz. - The Reno Bighorns (24-17) defeated the Northern Arizona Suns (20-23) 122-112 Sunday night at the Prescott Valley Events Center.
Sacramento Kings two-way player Jack Cooley led the Bighorns recording his 16 double-double of the season with 31 points and 13 rebounds while David Stockton scored 29 points and added five assists. Aaron Harrison added 18 points off the bench for the Bighorns.
Archie Goodwin paced the Suns with 26 points, six rebounds and two assists while Mike Young scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
The teams kept the score close opening the first frame tying five times and exchanging the lead five times. After a back and forth quarter, the Bighorns held a two-point advantage over the Suns at the end of the quarter.
Reno and Northern Arizona kept the score within two possessions before Reno went on a late run 17-10 to expanded their lead to as many as nine points in the frame, heading into the locker room with a score of leading by six.
The two teams kept the score tight opening the second half knotting the score up at 71 at the mid-way point of the third frame. The Bighorns gained momentum after going on a 14-8 run to give them a six-point lead to finish the quarter.
Reno opened their lead to 12 points after the break before the Suns found their footing to retake control of the lead to hold a two-point lead over Reno at the 3:25 point of the quarter. The Bighorns regained momentum outscoring the hosts 12-4 the remainder of the third frame, entering the final 12 minutes with a six-point lead.
Reno would hold the advantage for the entirety of the final quarter to secure the win over Northern Arizona.
The Bighorns will travel to Austin, Texas to take on the Spurs on Friday, Mar. 9 at 5:30 p.m. PST at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park.
