Westchester Knicks News Release

WHITE PLAINS, December 27, 2014 - The Westchester Knicks (6-10) saw overtime for the first time in franchise history but fell to the Grand Rapids Drive (7-6), the official NBA Development League affiliate of the Detroit Pistons, 104-100.

Strong shooting from Grand Rapids held Westchester to just 19 points in the first quarter, led by Knicks forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo who would go on to lead all scorers in the first half with 12 points. Westchester chipped away at the lead during the second quarter, making it a one possession game with under a minute to go and coming within just one point to head into halftime.

Westchester took the lead 53-51 with 9:48 on the clock in the third. The Drive tied it back up and it was back and forth for the two teams for the rest of the quarter led by Knicks guard Langston Galloway, who would go on to lead all scorers in the game.

Westchester would trail at the end of the third but picked the lead back up in the fourth. It was another back and forth quarter as both teams tried to reach triple digits. With 22 seconds on the clock and a one possession game with the Drive leading 93-91, a foul from Antetokounmpo on Drive forward Willie Reed drove up the score another point in Grand Rapids' favor. But Darnell Jackson, with a clutch three with just three seconds to go, tied it up 94-94 to put the game into overtime. This would be the first overtime in Westchester Knicks history.

The Drive racked up four points from free throws in overtime which would eventually be the game changer as the Knicks fell to the Drive 104-100.

Langston Galloway was just shy of a double double, leading all scorers with 25 points and adding 9 rebounds. Thanasis Antetokounmpo also just short of a double double with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Andre Barrett finished with 14 points, Darnell Jackson with 13, with Todd Mayo and Markeith Cummings rounding out the double digit scoring with 10 points each.

Drive guard Adonis Thomas led scoring for Grand Rapids with 23 points. Guard Brandon Field had 18 points on the night, also adding eight assists and five rebounds. Forward Willie Reed had the sole double double for both teams with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

The Westchester Knicks travel to play the Delaware 87ers, the NBA Development League affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers, tomorrow, Sunday Dec. 28 for a 5:00 p.m. tip-off. The game will be broadcast on MSG Network.
