Westchester Knicks News Release

NEWARK - The Westchester Knicks (15-10), the official NBA Development League affiliate of the New York Knickerbockers, finished off their four-game road trip with a win, holding on to first place in the Atlantic Division as they defeated the Delaware 87ers (14-12) 127-112.

Delaware took off on a 9-0 run to start the game, but the Knicks answered back with an 11-2 run of their own to tie it up early. The two teams, battling it out for first place in the Atlantic Division, stayed close throughout the first quarter with the 87ers holding a slight edge for the majority of the quarter.

Westchester got some help from the bench in the second, with NBA Assignee Damien Inglis supplying a quick nine points. The second twelve minutes looked much like the first, with Delaware holding on to a minor lead for the majority of the quarter. The Knicks tied it up late, but the 87ers finished the half with another run and went into the locker room leading by six.

Though the 87ers at one point ran up an 11-point lead, the third quarter belonged to Westchester as the Knicks brought the score back within two thanks to a 36-point collective team effort. Jimmer Fredette heated up with a 13-point quarter but Delaware, not to be outdone, had 33 points of their own for a true battle heading into the final quarter.

It was a fourth-quarter takeaway for the Knicks as they tied it up twice before going on a 16-2 run to take their largest lead of the game. Outscoring Delaware 37-19 in the final twelve minutes, Westchester came from behind to take the match-up 127-112.

Jimmer Fredette led Westchester in the win, knocking in 27 points with five rebounds and three assists. Two Knicks found double-doubles; Darion Atkins with 17 points and 11 rebounds and Milwaukee Bucks Assignee Damien Inglis with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Travis Trice II supplied 18 points, seven assists, and six rebounds while Wesley Saunders contributed 12 points and eight rebounds off the bench.

Delaware's Russ Smith had a team-high 27 points, also adding five assists and three rebounds. Christian Wood finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double, David Laury also notching one with 10 points and 16 rebounds.
