
Iowa Energy Fall in Overtime to Sioux Falls

Sioux Falls, SD - The Iowa Energy (12-12) fell 119-112 to the Sioux Falls Skyforce (18-4) Tuesday night at the Sanford Pentagon.
The Energy were led by Andrew Harrison with 31 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Lazeric Jones added 17 points and Alex Stepheson posted his 16th double-double in the last 17 games. The Skyforce were led by Tre Kelly with 29 points, two rebounds and six assists.
It was a close, high-scoring start to the game in the first with neither team able to establish a lead. The teams combined for five lead changes and two ties. Iowa shot 50 percent from the field in the quarter and were led by Michael Frazier with 11 points. Sioux Falls held a 32-31 lead heading into the second quarter. It continued to be a close game in the second quarter until the Skyforce opened a 12-point lead in the closing minutes of the half. The Skyforce led 61-51 at halftime. Harrison led the Energy with 16 first half points.
Sioux Falls continued to control the game in the third. Iowa was able to close the gap towards the end of the third with a small run to pull within six points. The Energy trailed 85-79 to start the fourth. Iowa continued to fight back in the fourth and tied the game with 2:58 to play after a pair of technical foul free-throws. It was a tie game with 1:00 to play. Tre Kelly would hit the go-ahead layup and free-throw with 4.1 seconds to play for the Skyforce. Harrison tied the game with a three for the Energy with 0.4 seconds left to tie the game and send it to overtime. In overtime, the Skyforce jumped out to an early lead. A series of technical fouls called against Iowa extended the Skyforce lead. Mardracus Wade scored seven points in overtime to try to bring the Energy back, but time ran out and the Skyforce won 119-112.
In what turned out to be a wild game, the Skyforce shot 55 free-throws (made 43), Iowa shot 37 free-throws (made 29) and there were 13 technical fouls called resulting in four player ejections (three from Iowa, one from Sioux Falls) and the ejection of Energy Head Coach Bob Donewald. No technical fouls or ejections came from fighting.
The Energy return home Saturday at 7pm against the Delaware 87ers for Mercy Hoops For A Cure game.
