GRAND RAPIDS, MI - The Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, were outdone by the Grand Rapids Gold, 110-96, Friday night at DeltaPlex Arena, to wrap up the road series.
Blake Francis (Available Player Pool) showed early promise for the Knicks (0-2) scoring 17 of his eventual game-high 26 points in the first half and on 50-percent from both the field and distance. By the conclusion of the game, he also added four assists and just one turnover in 37 minutes of action and in his second NBA G League game. Dewan Hernandez (Returning Rights) and Jordan Allen (Available Player Pool) mirrored 21 points with Hernandez's offensive total accompanying 10 boards. Lydell Elmore (Draft) hauled a game-high 15 rebounds which doubles as his career-high.
For Grand Rapids (2-0), Trevon Duval and Giorgi Bezhanishvili each contributed 17 points. Five other Gold players scored in double-figures including Matt Ryan who ended with 15 points.
The Knicks' largest lead of the night came in the first quarter, 8-2, at the 9:03 mark. From that point until the end of the opening frame, the Gold outscored the Knicks 21-6 to go up nine heading into the second. Westchester edged Grand Rapids by a three-point margin (32-29) in the period but still trailed the hosts 52-46 heading into the locker room.
Grand Rapids erupted for an 18-point lead in the third quarter and mounted a 24-point advantage in the fourth ultimately putting its bow on the contest.
Westchester returns to Webster Bank Arena Monday, January 10 for a matchup against Motor City Cruise. The action starts at 7:00 PM ET.
