
Santa Cruz Warriors Beat Oklahoma City Blue in Double Overtime, 127-123

SANTA CRUZ, CA - The Santa Cruz Warriors (2-0) defeated the Oklahoma City Blue (0-2) 127-123 in double overtime Friday night, completing a two-game sweep of the Blue in this week's back-to-back set at Kaiser Permanente Arena.
Santa Cruz was led by Golden State two-way forward Quinndary Weatherspoon, who contributed a game-high 32 points and 14 rebounds. Golden State Assignment Guard Moses Moody followed closely with 31 points (20 points in the first half) and seven rebounds, while two-way guard Chris Chiozza finished with 14 points 12 assists.
Guard Georgios Kalaitzakis led the Blue with 24 points, adding 10 points rebounds and four assists off the bench. Guard Zavier Simpson finished the night with 20 points and 10 rebounds while forward Jaylen Hoard claimed 19 points, six rebounds and five assists.
The two teams kept it competitive throughout the first quarter with Moody and Oklahoma City Blue guard Melvin Frazier Jr each finishing the quarter with nine points. The Warriors were able to secure a one-point lead heading into the second quarter at 27-26. The Warriors' offense came alive in the second and a three-pointer by guard Kendall Smith with one second remaining gave the Sea Dubs a 61-53 lead going into the half. Santa Cruz extended the lead by as many as 13 points in the third quarter and were able to keep that lead heading into the fourth quarter at 94-87. Oklahoma City came back take the lead with 58 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, but the Sea Dubs tied up the game at 116 at the end of regulation, sending the game into overtime. The teams went back and forth in OT to tie the game at 120 and send the contest into double overtime. Free throws by Weatherspoon and Moody gave the Warriors a two-point lead with nine seconds remaining and two additional free throws by Moody with 7.8 seconds left in the game secured the 127-123 win for the Warriors.
