The West Virginia Power beat the Lakewood BlueClaws 3-2 on Saturday night at Appalachian Power Park. The Power victory broke a four game home losing streak against the BlueClaws this season.

Lakewood scored twice within the first three batters of the game for their only run production of the evening. Jiwan James was hit by a pitch and scored on a triple from Leandro Castro. Jonathan Singleton followed with a sacrifice fly that extended the advantage to 2-0 BlueClaws.

In the home half of the second, Rogelio Noris reached on a one-out double and was driven in on a single by Elevys Gonzalez. In the third, Bengie Gonzalez singled and advanced to second when Evan Chambers walked with two outs. Aaron Baker's double drove in the pair and gave West Virginia just its second home lead against Lakewood in five games this season. The BlueClaws swept a three game series in June at Appalachian Power Park.

Jason Erickson (7-5) pitched six solid innings in his fifth quality start of the season, allowing only the two early runs on four hits while striking out four. Trevor May (4-2) allowed all three runs and was charged with the loss. Zach Foster tossed the final three innings for his fifth save, and induced a game ending 5-4-3 double play with the tying run on base in the ninth.

Five different players had base hits for the Power, which collected only five hits in the game. Michael Dabbs and Jeremy Barnes had two hits each for the BlueClaws, who were also held to five hits.

Game three of this five-game set is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at 2:05 pm. Kyle McPherson is slated to start against Josh Zeid for West Virginia and Lakewood, respectively.
